July 2018 Event: Leadership in the Workplace – Lessons from the River

Date: Monday, July 16, 2018
Time: 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.
Location: Greenstone Building Boardroom #2 (Second Floor)

What is leadership? How do we become more effective leaders? How do we encourage and support those around us in their leadership development journey?

These are age-old questions with no easy answers.

As leadership scholar Warren Bennis once said: “Leadership is like beauty; it’s hard to define, but you know it when you see it.” In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the Leadership Iceberg and given the opportunity to apply the model to their personal and professional lives.

Examples of how the model has been used as a framework for leadership development as a part of university-based wilderness canoe expeditions in the NWT and Nunavut will be used. The session will be interactive.
